Gestuz brought a little bit of 1970s Los Angeles to Copenhagen for its Spring/Summer 2027 show, Double Exposure. Starting off in one of the most intimate places of today’s generation, a photobooth, singer MØ gave us a deep live backtrack to the clothes.
Gestuz SS27: A Modern Rock & Roll Woman
Founded by Sanne Sehested, Gestuz has always had a particular relationship with vintage dressing, drawing from earlier decades while keeping its pieces rooted in a modern, distinctly Scandinavian attitude. For SS27, that point of view felt especially clear.
The collection moved between the glamorous and the undone. Leather motorcycle jackets appeared alongside tailored suiting, worn denim, flowing dresses, and statement prints. Zebra and tiger stripes brought an unmistakable 1970s energy to the runway, while strong shoulders and structured silhouettes added a more powerful edge. Prints are back and better than ever! A personal favorite look for us being the wide shouldered tiger print jacket with an exact matching clutch, black capri leggings, and simple white heels. The styling felt like a wardrobe belonging to a woman who refuses to be confined to just one version of herself.
Double Exposure
The concept behind Double Exposure was perhaps most apparent in the show’s characters. Gestuz imagined three different 1970s women: the free spirit tanning by the pool, the glamorous woman driving with the top down, and the powerful businesswoman borrowing from the masculine wardrobe.
What made the collection feel current was the way these references were mixed rather than treated as costumes. A sharp blazer could feel effortlessly cool next to a more revealing silhouette, while oversized sunglasses, leather, animal print, and denim gave the collection that slightly rebellious attitude Gestuz does so well.
There was also something wonderfully personal about the show. Photobooths appeared as part of the presentation, reflecting the collection’s interest in women documenting themselves simply because they want to. In a world where every image seems to need a purpose, Gestuz made a case for taking a picture just because you love the way you look in it.
From Copenhagen to Marmalade
The strength of Gestuz SS27 is that, despite its very specific inspiration, the collection never feels stuck in the past. The leather jacket, tailored blazer, printed skirt, or pair of relaxed trousers could easily become the piece that defines an everyday wardrobe.
For Marmalade, that balance is exactly what makes the collection so exciting. Gestuz understands how to make clothes feel cool without making them difficult to wear, giving even its boldest pieces a sense of casualness.
SS27 is Gestuz at its most confident: a little glamorous, a little rebellious, and completely uninterested in choosing just one identity. Double Exposure reminds us that getting dressed can be a form of self-documentation, and sometimes the best version of yourself is the one you create simply because you feel like it.
