It’s a brisk October afternoon in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The air feels just right, there’s no concrete plans for the night except seeing where it takes you. In a garden perched on top a hill overlooking the lake, 2 daughters and a mother make the most of the season’s remaining warm weather.
So naturally, they head into the garden.

This garden has seen them through their best and worst. Overly long conversations, disagreements, and the kind of laughter that makes it hard to breathe. Nothing here has ever been quite perfect, but that’s what makes every moment so special.
They enter in what they have been wearing all day, each wearing a long skirt that suits their personalities just right. But one look soon becomes another. Pieces are exchanged for others, layers are added and taken away. Each change is comfortable enough for the afternoon in the garden, but chic enough to make an occasion of the evening.
The Ritual of Fire
As the afternoon turns to night and the weather cools, they turn to the fire. There is always a flame between the three of them when together, but now they have a literal one to keep warm. One of them gets up to tend to it, the other insists she’s doing it wrong.

But tonight, there are more important things to attend to. There are s’mores to make. They have moved on to debating how long to hold a marshmallow over the fire for and whether a burnt one is better or not. Chocolate melts over their fingers, graham crackers break, and someone inevitably makes a mess of their outfit. There’s another look waiting for them inside anyways…
A Sisterhood Written in the Stars

There’s a Practical Magic to the afternoon as the mood shifts and their mother lays out the beloved tarot cards, and they lean in for their reading. There’s something familiar about asking her for answers, though this time she lets the card speak first. Each flip brings a new question, a knowing look, or a little disagreement over what it all means. They listen closely, especially when the reading tells them something they’ve been hoping to hear.

Magic in the Middle of Nowhere
There’s a certain enchantment to still being able to stay outside as the afternoon turns to evening. Soon, the chill will send them inside. For now, there is still a little light over the lake and the garden, and one or two more stories to tell.

Shot on film in the origin town of our store, the editorial captures that fleeting October warmth and the ease of three women with love for each other spending it together.

Written on the garden wall are words they’ve come back to time and again. Here, with nowhere else they need to be, they say them once more.

“Somewhere between right and wrong there is a garden, I’ll meet you there," they look to each other.
